INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an university entrance examination with international validity. It is administered from Geneva under International Council with wide governmental participation. The curriculum, which is used by over 700 schools throughout the world, is internationally examined and specifically designed for worldwide use.

The course requires candidates to study a range of six subjects, three at Higher and three at Subsidiary Level. All candidates must study two languages chosen from a wide range available which includes their best language and a second language.

In addition, they study mathematics, one science and one humanities subject. For their sixth subject, students have a free choice, which includes art/design, music etc. They are also required to follow a course in the Theory of Knowledge, which is designed, to lead to reflection on the nature of the disciplines studied.

They also have to devote time to some creative, aesthetic and physical activities and social service and carry out an Extended Essay, which introduces students to the rigours of personal research on a topic of the student's choice. This is excellent preparation for similar tasks given to them once they enter tertiary education.

Since 1969, students holding Diplomas have been accepted at over 650 universities in some 60 countries. In India, the IB Diploma has been recognised as the equivalent of the 10 + 2 system of education by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
